Definition of Biometrics
Fingerprints and a photograph submitted at a visa application centre, valid for a fixed period.
Why it matters in practice for applicants
Most study, work and PR applications now require biometric enrolment at a visa application centre, booked after filing. The appointment itself is short, but slots in peak season fill weeks ahead, and biometric validity means repeat applicants may reuse recent enrolments. Booking the appointment the day filing completes protects the processing timeline.
Practical example and scenario
A Hisar student books the nearest VAC slot for the day after her UK filing, keeping the total timeline inside her intake window.
